This “significant introductory meeting” with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has attracted attention, particularly because it occurred shortly after US Ambassador Donald Blome also met with the ECP chief.
Marriott shared this development on the social media platform X, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the country experiences free, credible, transparent, and inclusive elections in accordance with the law.

The meetings between diplomats and the Chief Election Commissioner have raised questions from various quarters, including the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf). PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan expressed skepticism about these visits, questioning their merit and intentions.
He pointed to a previous Supreme Court judgment that found the Chief Election Commissioner guilty of violating the constitution by not holding elections within the stipulated period. Hasan suggested that these actions resembled a colonial past and called on the British High Commissioner to consider the prevailing public sentiment.
