In ISLAMABAD, prominent Pakistani lawyer Barrister Ahmad Pansota has initiated legal proceedings for a retake of the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) due to a cheating scandal that marred this year’s exam. Even before the MDCAT took place, over 180,000 candidates had been protesting against the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) across the country, demanding a single-day retake of the exam to ensure transparency and merit.
Amid calls for protest and legal action, Barrister Ahmad Pansota began the legal process by serving a notice to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Commission, a regulatory authority responsible for maintaining the official register of medical practitioners in Pakistan.

In his social media post, Pansota stated that on behalf of his client, Ms. Ariba, they have sought the cancellation of MDCAT 2023 and a thorough inquiry into those responsible for leaking the exam paper and cheating during the exams.
The legal notice outlined various irregularities, including the leaking of the exam paper and the inclusion of questions beyond the prescribed syllabus. It also raised concerns about the integrity of the examination, citing statistically improbable scores and cases of Bluetooth cheating in KPK. The notice demanded an immediate inquiry against PMC officials responsible for the paper leak, the cancellation of MDCAT 2023, and the reconduction of the exam with a focus on fairness and transparency. Legal action was threatened if the PMC did not comply with these demands, indicating the possibility of both civil and criminal proceedings in the High Court.
