A fresh spell of thunderstorms and potentially heavy rain is affecting several parts of Pakistan, raising concerns about flooding in vulnerable areas.
The Met Office has forecast intermittent rain and thunderstorms across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar, upper Punjab and Kashmir.
Rain and thunderstorms are also expected across upper and central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan during the current weather spell.
Several areas could receive isolated spells of heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of water accumulation on roads.
Low-lying neighbourhoods may also face urban flooding if intense rainfall continues for extended periods.
Islamabad and Rawalpindi are among the areas facing particular concern due to the possibility of heavy downpours.
Intense rain could trigger flooding in urban areas and cause local streams and nullahs to swell.
The Rawalpindi-Chaklala area is expected to record temperatures between 28°C and 30°C on Thursday and Friday.
Extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the area during this period.
Weather conditions are expected to become partly cloudy on Saturday, with temperatures likely to remain between 29°C and 31°C.
Punjab is also facing a widespread threat of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms during the current spell.
On Thursday, rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are expected in several districts across the province.
These areas include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujrat, Jhelum, Mangla and Gujranwala.
Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara and Mianwali may also receive rainfall.
Sargodha, Khushab, Chiniot and Faisalabad could receive rain and thunderstorms during the evening and night.
The unsettled weather is expected to continue into Friday across several parts of Punjab.
Rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are again forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock and Chakwal.
Gujrat, Jhelum, Mangla, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal and Lahore are also expected to receive rain.
Kasur, Sheikhupura and Okara could also experience thunderstorms and heavy rainfall during the period.
Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Chiniot, Faisalabad and Dera Ghazi Khan may receive rain during the evening and night.
The weather threat also extends to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where several districts are expected to receive rain and thunderstorms.
Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Haripur are among the areas likely to experience unsettled weather.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to remain wet as the rainy spell continues.
The risk could become more serious in mountainous areas, where persistent or intense rainfall may trigger landslides.
Residents in vulnerable locations have been advised to remain alert during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Motorists should exercise caution while travelling on roads, especially on routes passing through hilly and landslide-prone areas.
Authorities are expected to continue monitoring flooding, swollen waterways and other risks as the weather system affects major cities and districts.
