Punjab’s educational boards are set to introduce several reforms aimed at making examinations more transparent, balanced and student-friendly.
The proposed changes will cover the complete examination process, including question paper preparation, marking and result compilation.
Under the new approach, question papers will contain a mix of easy, difficult and highly difficult questions.
The changes are aimed at creating a more balanced assessment of students’ knowledge and abilities.
An item bank will also be established to help educational boards prepare better and more consistent question papers.
The item bank will allow boards to maintain an appropriate level of difficulty across examinations.
The marking system will also be revised under the proposed examination reforms.
Marks will be assigned to different steps involved in solving questions rather than focusing only on final answers.
This system will allow examiners to give students credit for correct methods and partial progress.
Officials said the revised marking approach would provide a fairer assessment of students’ understanding.
The reforms are also expected to improve consistency in question papers and marking across Punjab’s educational boards.
Another major change concerns the announcement of Intermediate Part-I first annual examination results.
Officials said the results will be announced in the second week of August from next year.
This will move the result announcement forward from the existing schedule, under which results are announced in September.
All educational boards across Punjab have been directed to implement the proposed reforms.
The changes are intended to strengthen examination standards and improve transparency across the province.
Officials said the reforms would also make the examination process easier and more manageable for students.
The revised system is expected to provide students with more opportunities to receive marks for their understanding and problem-solving methods.
The establishment of an item bank is also expected to help boards maintain better standards while preparing future examinations.
Authorities are now expected to work on implementing the reforms across all educational boards in Punjab.
The changes will affect question paper preparation, marking procedures and the timeline for announcing examination results.
