The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its latest weather forecast, predicting humid conditions and partly cloudy skies in Karachi over the next 24 hours. Light drizzle is also expected in some parts of the city during the morning and nighttime hours, offering brief relief from the warm and humid conditions.
According to the PMD, Karachi’s daytime temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Humidity levels reached 78%, making the weather feel warmer than the actual temperature. Sea breezes continued to blow at around 15 kilometers per hour, helping reduce the intensity of the heat across the city.
Meanwhile, Peshawar is likely to experience very different weather conditions. The city is expected to remain hot and dry under clear skies, with the maximum temperature forecast to reach 41°C. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26°C, while humidity stood at 43%.
The PMD also predicted rain in most upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next 24 hours. However, the plains of the province are expected to remain hot and dry.
In its monthly outlook, the department warned that temperatures across much of Pakistan are likely to stay above normal. Southern parts of the country, including Sindh, central Punjab, and eastern Balochistan, are expected to experience the most intense heat in the coming weeks.
The PMD further stated that rainfall during June is expected to remain near normal or slightly below normal. Reduced rainfall may increase the chances of prolonged heatwave conditions in several regions.
Despite the overall low rainfall forecast, the department cautioned that isolated heavy showers could still occur. Such downpours may trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas and places with poor drainage systems.
Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day, and regularly follow official weather updates, as forecasts may change depending on developing atmospheric conditions.
