Private Schools have protested a sharp increase in several fees charged by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).
The increased charges cover affiliation, inspection, renewal, security, and other services. School representatives said the revised fees could create serious financial difficulties.
They warned that low and medium-fee institutions would face the greatest pressure. Many such schools operate with limited financial resources and may struggle with higher costs.
A delegation from the Joint Action Committee of All Private Schools Associations met Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. The group presented a charter of demands during the meeting.
The delegation raised concerns about the recent increase in FBISE fees. Representatives urged the government to consider the financial impact on educational institutions.
The representatives said Private Schools are important partners of the government. They said these institutions help provide education to millions of children.
They also highlighted the role of private institutions in improving access to quality education. According to the delegation, schools continue supporting national efforts to expand education.
Several representatives from private education organizations attended the meeting. Former FBISE Board of Governors member Nasir Mahmood was among the participants.
Board of Governors member Hafiz Mohammad Basharat also joined the delegation. APSMA North Punjab President Abrar Ahmed Khan attended the meeting as well.
Other participants included Chaudhry Mohammad Obaidullah and Private Schools Network President Maqbool Hussain Dar. All Pakistan Private Schools Association President Malik Naseem Ahmed was also present.
Former Board of Governors member Sakina Taj participated in the meeting. Educational Society leader Raja Khalid Mahmood was also part of the delegation.
The representatives discussed their demands and concerns with the federal education minister. They emphasized the financial difficulties caused by the increased charges.
The delegation called for government attention to the revised fee structure. It requested measures to reduce the financial burden on educational institutions.
Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui assured the delegation that their concerns would be considered. He said the government would address the recommendations and proposals presented by the schools.
Siddiqui also acknowledged the contribution of Private Schools to the education sector. He said private institutions were supporting government efforts to promote education.
The minister added that private educational institutions were providing valuable support to the government. He assured the delegation that their difficulties would be addressed.
The issue of increased FBISE fees has now drawn attention from private education associations. Schools are awaiting further action from the education authorities.
The government’s response could determine whether the revised charges remain unchanged. Further discussions may take place regarding the concerns raised by school representatives.
