The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha has launched cardiac electrophysiology services. A symposium was held on Wednesday to mark the formal launch.

The event brought together senior health officials, cardiac specialists, doctors, and medical staff. Major General (Retd) Azhar Mahmood Kayani attended the event as the chief guest.

He described the launch at the Nawaz Sharif Institute as an important development. The new service will provide advanced treatment options for patients in the region.

Cardiac electrophysiology focuses on diagnosing and treating abnormal heart rhythms. The specialty can help patients suffering from irregular heartbeats and complex rhythm disorders.

Kayani said modern technology and specialist doctors would strengthen cardiac services in Sargodha. Patients can now access specialized care without traveling to major cities.

He added that advanced medical specialties remain a government priority. The aim is to expand quality healthcare services across Punjab’s public hospitals.

According to Hayat, the institute has state-of-the-art medical facilities. He said it could match the standards of international hospitals.

Experts at the symposium discussed several aspects of cardiac electrophysiology. These included arrhythmia diagnosis and modern treatment techniques.

The institute also achieved an important milestone during the event. Its first cardiac electrophysiology arrhythmia ablation procedure was successfully performed.

Dr. Muhammad Awais and Professor Brigadier (Retd) Azmat Hayat performed the procedure. The treatment marked the operational start of the new specialized service.

The launch is expected to improve access to advanced heart rhythm treatment in Sargodha. It may also reduce the need for patients to seek specialized care elsewhere.
