The Prime Minister’s visit comes after civil rights groups ended their protests in response to government concessions on electricity and wheat prices. These protests, organized by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), began on May 11 and resulted in fatalities and clashes with law enforcement.
In response to the unrest, the Sharif-led government approved grants to address the situation, underscoring Azad Kashmir’s special status within Pakistan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
