Peshawar district administration has imposed Section 144 ahead of Independence Day, introducing restrictions on several activities considered a threat to public safety.
The restrictions include a ban on the sale and purchase of baajas, or toy horns, along with toy pistols and firecrackers. The district administration said the restrictions will remain in force until August 15.
Authorities have also restricted aerial firing, fireworks, and one-wheeling across Peshawar. The measures have been introduced ahead of August 14 celebrations, when large gatherings are expected across the city and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The administration said the restrictions are aimed at preventing accidents, disorder, and incidents that could endanger residents. Officials warned that people violating the orders could face strict legal action.
One-wheeling has received particular attention from authorities because of the serious risks associated with the stunt. Young people have been urged to avoid the practice and celebrate Independence Day without putting themselves or other road users in danger.
The ban on baajas and firecrackers is also intended to reduce excessive noise during the celebrations. Authorities want to prevent festive activities from creating problems for residents or contributing to public disorder.
The administration has urged citizens to cooperate with officials and follow the restrictions throughout the specified period. Police and relevant authorities are expected to monitor public areas and take action against violations.
Independence Day celebrations are expected to take place across Peshawar on August 14. The administration has stressed that public safety remains a priority during the festivities.
The restrictions will remain effective through August 15. Residents have been advised to celebrate responsibly and avoid activities prohibited under the Section 144 order.
Authorities have also appealed to families and young people to ensure that celebrations remain peaceful. The administration said responsible participation can help prevent accidents and protect lives and property.
