PIA Cancels 25 More Flights Due To Unpaid Fuel

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In Islamabad, more than twenty-five flights, including some international routes operated by Pakistan International Airlines, have been canceled, causing inconvenience to passengers. This disruption is occurring amid a significant financial crisis resulting from the country’s national flag carrier accumulating substantial unpaid dues.

The aviation sector in Pakistan is experiencing a severe crisis, leading to the cancellation and postponement of several PIA flights, leaving passengers stranded for extended periods.

Recent reports from the media indicate that on Sunday, 16 flights departing from Karachi, the country’s financial hub, to various airports were canceled. Additionally, two flights between Islamabad and Jeddah have been temporarily halted.

This situation has arisen because Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has once again suspended the supply of fuel to the airline due to the non-transfer of daily payments required to ensure fuel supply.

Previously, the airline had reached an agreement with the state-owned petroleum corporation for daily payments to maintain fuel supply on essential routes. However, the failure to make these daily payments has led to this latest suspension.

While the airline spokesperson claims that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has already paid Rs500 million to PSO for fuel provision and is making daily payments, PSO appears dissatisfied with extending leniency to another state institution.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
