The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a widespread monsoon spell across several parts of the country from July 1, with rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms expected to continue for nearly a week. The weather system is likely to bring heavy rainfall to many regions, increasing the risk of urban flooding, landslides, and flash floods in vulnerable areas.
According to the Met Office, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the upper parts of Pakistan on the evening of June 30. At the same time, moisture from the Arabian Sea is already affecting eastern and central parts of the country, while additional moisture from the Bay of Bengal is expected to reach northern regions by July 2, strengthening the monsoon system.
