Karachi Traffic Police have launched a new enforcement initiative to curb wrong-way driving across the city. The step aims to improve traffic discipline and reduce road accidents.
The Karachi Traffic Police have introduced modern gadgets for officers. These devices will help issue fines to drivers who violate one-way rules. Officials said this will make enforcement faster and more effective.
According to Traffic DIG Pir Muhammad Shah, wrong-way driving has increased in several areas. He said strict action is now being taken to control the growing violations.
The Karachi Traffic Police have also planned a new Traffic Flow Unit. This unit will soon be deployed on major roads across the city. It will focus on managing traffic and reducing congestion.
Officials confirmed that 36 locations have been identified. These areas report the highest number of wrong-way violations. Special monitoring will be carried out in these zones.
DIG Pir Muhammad Shah said enforcement tools have been provided to officers. These tools will help ensure immediate action against traffic offenders. The goal is to improve compliance with road rules.
The Karachi Traffic Police also discussed the e-challan system. Officials said the system is not fully operational in all parts of the city. They added that faceless tracking is not yet active on University Road.
DIG Pir Muhammad Shah stated that manual challans have been stopped. The shift to a digital system has improved transparency. However, he noted that some challenges still remain during the transition.
Authorities also announced stricter action on major roads. The Karachi Traffic Police will start enforcing fines for lane violations on Shahrah-e-Faisal from June. This step is expected to improve lane discipline.
Officials said the overall objective is to improve traffic flow and safety. They emphasized that repeated violations will not be tolerated under the new system.
