Lahore traffic police are preparing to tighten enforcement against motorists who violate traffic rules. Traffic wardens have reportedly been given new challan targets and a 15-day deadline.

Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi has directed traffic officials to increase enforcement against traffic violations. The focus will be on areas where challan numbers have reportedly fallen.
The crackdown will particularly target unlicensed drivers and underage motorists. Authorities will also focus on vehicles without fitness certificates.
Smoke-emitting vehicles are another major target under the new enforcement drive. Traffic officials are expected to take stricter action against motorists and vehicle owners who violate these rules.
Traffic wardens have reportedly been given 15 days to achieve their assigned targets. Officials who fail to meet the required figures could face departmental action.

However, the enforcement drive is not limited to new challans. Traffic authorities are also planning stronger measures to recover unpaid e-challans.
CTO Abdul Rahim Shirazi has reportedly written to DIG Traffic Punjab and the Punjab Information Technology Board. The proposal seeks to link certain government services with the clearance of outstanding e-challan dues.
If approved and implemented, the measure could make it more difficult for motorists to ignore unpaid traffic fines. People with outstanding e-challans may have to clear their dues before accessing certain government services.
The proposal is aimed at improving recovery of traffic penalties and encouraging motorists to pay their fines on time. It could also increase pressure on drivers who have accumulated multiple unpaid e-challans.
