Traffic authorities in Punjab have initiated strict enforcement of road safety regulations across the province after completing a two-week public awareness campaign aimed at educating citizens about traffic laws and responsible driving behavior.
The crackdown has been launched under the directives of Muhammad Waqas Nazir, who has ordered authorities to take action against violations under a zero-tolerance policy. Officials stated that the awareness campaign was conducted on a large scale, covering major cities including Lahore. During this period, Rahbar squads and safety camps were established at key locations to guide and inform the public about traffic rules and safe driving practices.
Authorities highlighted that the campaign made use of various communication platforms, including social media, to reach a wider audience. Citizens were educated about essential aspects such as maintaining lane discipline, wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding one-way violations, and adhering to other key traffic regulations that are often ignored.
With the awareness phase now concluded, traffic police have moved into full enforcement mode. Strict action is being taken against violators across the province to ensure compliance with the law. Officials emphasized that uniform implementation of traffic rules is necessary to reduce accidents and improve overall road safety.
DIG Waqas Nazir reiterated that the objective is not only to penalize offenders but also to create a culture of responsible driving. He urged the public to cooperate with authorities by following traffic laws, which will help protect lives and make roads safer for everyone.
