China Urges Caution Following Iran's Airstrikes In Pakistani Territory

BEIJING – Following an airstrike by Iran on its territory that resulted in two fatalities and three injuries, China has called on Pakistan and Iran to demonstrate “restraint.” During a regular briefing on Wednesday, foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized the need for both nations to avoid actions escalating tensions and to collaborate in maintaining peace and stability. Mao Ning underscored the close neighborly and Islamic ties between China, Iran, and Pakistan.

In response to the incident, Pakistan summoned the Iranian charge d’affaires to express a strong protest against the air raid that led to the death of two innocent children and injuries to three girls due to the violation of airspace. The foreign office in Islamabad condemned the unprovoked violation of sovereignty, deeming it unacceptable and warning of potential serious consequences. Despite the existence of communication channels, the aggressive approach taken by Iran was criticized.

The Iranian Charge d’affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey the strongest condemnation of the violation. The Pakistani government, which consistently opposes terrorism as a common threat requiring coordinated action, asserted that such unilateral acts are inconsistent with good neighborly relations and have the potential to seriously undermine bilateral trust and confidence.

The airstrike in question involved Tehran allegedly launching missiles and drones into Pakistan, targeting the bases of the Baloch terror group Jaish al-Adl. However, the attack resulted in civilian casualties, raising tensions in the already volatile Middle East, which has been further affected by Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
