Arshad Nadeem Reaches Olympic Javelin Final with 86.59m Season Best

Arshad Nadeem secured his place in the Olympic javelin final with a solid 86.59m throw in Tuesday’s qualifier at Stade de France. This throw, which is his season best, positions him fourth going into Thursday’s final.

Leading the qualifiers was India’s Neeraj Chopra with an impressive 89.34m throw, a season best for him. He is followed by Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who threw 88.63m, and reigning European Champion Julian Weber with a 87.76m throw. All four of these athletes advanced to the final with just one throw each.

Kenya’s Rio 2016 silver medalist, who threw 85.97m, placed fifth, marking his season best. Brazil’s Luiz Maurício da Silva also had a standout performance, achieving a personal best and breaking the South American record with an 85.91m throw, landing him in sixth place.

Czech javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch, with a throw of 85.63m, ranks seventh, which is below his season best of 88.65m. Finland’s Toni Keranen, making his Olympic debut, achieved both a personal and season best with an 85.27m throw, placing him eighth.

Finally, Andrian Mardare of Moldova set a season best of 84.13m to secure ninth place heading into the final.
