Saudi Arabia launches new instant E-visa system

Saudi Arabia has launched an innovative “Visa by Profile” system, allowing eligible Visa cardholders to obtain an electronic tourist visa within minutes, Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb announced Thursday.

In a post on X, Al-Khateeb explained that the new system, unveiled at the TOURISE25 summit, enables travelers to secure an e-visa instantly using only their Visa card and passport information.

The initiative, developed collaboratively by the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Visa Inc., and the Saudi Tourism Authority, highlights the Kingdom’s push for smooth, technology-driven travel experiences.

“This is how we build the future of tourism: simple, seamless, and globally connected,” the minister said.

Saudi Arabia continues to lead global tourism, ranking first among G20 nations in international arrivals in 2024 and topping charts for tourism revenue growth. After surpassing 100 million visitors in 2023, the Kingdom now aims to attract 150 million tourists annually by 2030.

At the TOURISE summit’s conclusion, Al-Khateeb also announced initiatives—Agentic Tourism, TOURISE Destination, and Beyond Tourism—alongside partnerships with leading hospitality institutions to enhance training, skills, and workforce development.
