Local Mobile Phone Production Rises By 55% In September 2025

Pakistan’s mobile phone industry has witnessed a strong rebound, with local production rising by 55 percent in September 2025. According to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), manufacturers produced 3.01 million mobile phone units during the month, reflecting a 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The impressive growth in mobile phone output was fueled by rising consumer demand and the launch of new models by major global brands. Samsung, Xiaomi, and Infinix led the surge with popular releases such as the Galaxy S25 FE, Redmi 15 series, and Infinix Note 40X 5G. These new launches boosted replacement purchases and encouraged users to upgrade their devices.

Analysts at Topline Research explained that the strong rebound in September 2025 followed a period of unusually low sales in September 2024. Last year’s slowdown was due to heavy pre-buying activity ahead of budget changes, making the current rise appear even more significant.

During the first nine months of 2025, local manufacturers assembled 22.78 million mobile phones, slightly higher than the same period last year. Of these, 52 percent were smartphones, while 48 percent were 2G feature phones.

Industry data also shows that 94 percent of Pakistan’s mobile demand is now met through domestic production. This demonstrates the country’s growing industrial capability and reduced dependence on imported devices.

Experts predict that mobile phone sales will continue to grow by 7 to 8 percent annually over the next year. Factors such as a stable exchange rate, lower inflation, and improving consumer purchasing power are expected to support further growth.
