PM Shehbaz Hints at Major Petrol Price Cut Today

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hinted at a major reduction in the petrol price, saying the government is expected to announce significant relief for consumers amid improving economic conditions.

Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister said Pakistan has earned international recognition and respect following its role in facilitating the Iran-US ceasefire through the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). He remarked that the entire nation deserves congratulations for this achievement and expressed gratitude for what he described as a historic moment for the country.

Referring to economic matters, PM Shehbaz said the government had worked tirelessly to protect citizens from the impact of inflation and rising living costs. He stated that the difficult economic phase was gradually coming to an end and indicated that a notable cut in the petrol price would be announced soon.

The prime minister emphasized that Pakistan’s growing diplomatic stature has attracted global attention. He called on lawmakers from all political parties to support a unanimous resolution in parliament, arguing that it would send a strong message of national unity to the international community.

During his speech, PM Shehbaz praised the efforts of several individuals involved in regional peace initiatives. He particularly highlighted the role of Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying he worked continuously to help achieve stability and peace. The premier also acknowledged the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The prime minister revealed that he recently spoke with the Iranian president, who thanked Pakistan and appreciated the contributions of key Pakistani officials. He also credited provincial governments and officials from the petroleum and finance sectors for maintaining uninterrupted fuel supplies and preventing shortages despite regional uncertainties.

PM Shehbaz further thanked international partners, including Qatar, China, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, for supporting efforts to reduce tensions. He expressed hope that the positive developments would bring economic benefits, greater stability, and further relief measures, including reductions in the petrol price, for the people of Pakistan.
