The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has decided to re-question PTI founder Imran Khan regarding the activity of his social media account on X. Despite his imprisonment in Adiala Jail, the account continues to post updates, raising questions for investigators.
Officials confirmed that this time the questioning will be based on written responses. Imran Khan has already received a detailed 21-point questionnaire from the NCCIA. His answers will be examined to determine who is running the account and whether he approves the content.
The agency is focusing on several key questions. How does the account remain active while Khan is behind bars? Who operates the account and from where? Does the PTI founder give consent to posts made in his name? Are controversial or politically sensitive posts being issued with his approval?
According to sources, the NCCIA team has already met Khan twice in prison. However, both meetings ended without significant cooperation. During the second meeting, the discussion reportedly turned tense, making it difficult for investigators to move forward.
To address the lack of clarity, the NCCIA decided to rely on written answers. Officials believe this method may help establish a clearer understanding of whether Khan is directly involved in the account’s activity.
The case has gained attention because it highlights the challenges of monitoring high-profile social media accounts during detention. Authorities want to know if the account is being managed independently or under Khan’s direction.
The NCCIA investigation remains ongoing. Once Khan’s written responses are reviewed, the agency is expected to decide its next course of action. The outcome may have implications for how digital activity linked to prominent political figures is monitored in the future.
