Karachi Shaken by 11th Earthquake in Two Days, Residents on Edge

Panic returned to parts of Karachi early Tuesday as another earthquake — the eleventh in just two days — struck the city, intensifying fears over a string of ongoing seismic events in the region.

The National Seismological Center reported that the latest tremor hit at 7:45am with a magnitude of 3.2, centered southwest of Korangi. Residents in Landhi, Korangi, and nearby areas rushed outside in fear as tremors rattled their homes. Cracks appeared in walls, and people, especially the elderly and children, gathered in open spaces for safety.

According to Chief Meteorologist Amir Haider Leghari, the fault line beneath Landhi is currently active, and minor tremors could persist over the next week. However, he reassured the public that the activity remains within expected parameters, with no immediate threat of a major quake.

While no casualties have been reported, the recurring tremors have heightened concerns about the city’s preparedness, particularly in overcrowded neighbourhoods. Seismologists and officials have urged residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines during any further shocks.
