Rawalpindi Man Kills Daughter for Rejecting Cousin Marriage

In a tragic incident underscoring the perils of forced marriages, a young woman in Rawalpindi’s Waris Khan area was allegedly shot dead by her father for refusing to marry her paternal cousin.

The suspect, Mumtaz Khan, fled the scene after the attack. Police have filed a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s mother, the girl had initially agreed to the engagement last year. However, as the wedding neared, she told her family she no longer wanted to go through with it, without explaining why.

Police state the father, enraged by her decision, fatally shot her in the head. She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
