OGRA Proposes Mixed Changes to Gas Tariffs, Awaits Federal Government Approval
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended adjustments to gas tariffs and forwarded its decision to the federal government for final approval.
Key proposals include a reduction of Rs. 103.95 per MMBTU for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and an increase of Rs. 116.90 per MMBTU for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). The rise in SNGPL’s prices is attributed to increased costs of Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) imports.

OGRA has also called on the federal government to address SNGPL’s gas management issues and to establish gas prices based on different consumer categories.
These tariff recommendations were formulated considering the financial shortfalls faced by both companies during the current fiscal year. A formal notification will be issued once the federal government grants final approval.
