The Islamabad High Court heard a contempt of court lawsuit against the Islamabad IGP for arresting Dr Shireen Mazari in defiance of a court order. The response was filed in court by IGP Akbar Nasir Khan.

In his response, the IGP expressed regret for what had occurred and apologised for violating the court order. An office directive had been made to avoid a similar incident in the future. He stated that police personnel had been directed to guarantee that all court orders were followed.

Dr Mazari was apprehended by sub-inspector Haider Ali, constables Sohail, Faisal, and Waqas, according to IGP Khan. Lady Constable Sundus and Marvi were also involved in the former PTI leader’s arrest. He claimed that prior to Dr. Mazari’s arrest, authorities were unaware of the court order.

The IGP stated that disciplinary action had been launched and that show-cause notices had been served on the appropriate officers. He claimed that personnel from the Kohsar police station and the Rawalpindi police station had gone to Dr Mazari’s house to arrest her.

Advocate Iman Mazari claimed that he did not alert police about the court order barring her mother’s detention.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
