Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) march will continue as the party’s demands have not yet been fulfilled.
Speaking on Samaa TV programme Red Line with Talat Hussain, Shafi Jan described the recent ruling by a three-member bench as “historic”, saying it was based on justice and represented an important development for the party.
PTI demands remain unfulfilled
Shafi Jan said PTI would continue its political struggle because its demands had not yet been addressed.
He added that following the court ruling, the party did not want to lose the progress it had made and would honour the assurances it had previously given.
According to the KP minister, the party would continue pursuing its position while seeking legal and political solutions to its concerns.
Imran Khan’s treatment at Shifa Hospital
Discussing Imran Khan’s treatment, Shafi Jan said the duration of the PTI founder’s stay at Shifa Hospital would be determined by the relevant medical board.
He said Khan would remain at the hospital until he recovered.
Shafi Jan also maintained that PTI wanted Imran Khan’s cases to be heard and decided strictly on merit.
He further commented on reports concerning Khan’s mental health, saying that if the former prime minister had been suffering from depression, it would have become apparent during his first 100 days.
Dr Uzma to remain with Imran Khan
Shafi Jan said Dr Uzma Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, would remain with him during his treatment.
He added that Dr Uzma would not speak to the media.
The KP minister also said that Imran Khan’s sister had been allowed to meet him after 265 days, describing the meeting as another significant development.
PTI says it will honour assurances
Shafi Jan said PTI would not abandon the gains it had achieved following the court ruling.
He reiterated that the party would honour the assurances it had given while continuing its political activities.
The statements come amid heightened political activity surrounding Imran Khan’s legal cases, medical treatment and the PTI’s ongoing demands.
