Authorities have officially revised the prices of roti, naan, paratha, and tea across Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and several districts of the Rawalpindi Division. The updated rates were issued through a new notification, after which tandoors and food outlets in the twin cities immediately started implementing the revised prices.
According to the latest price list, the cost of a regular red flour roti has been fixed at Rs. 17. Meanwhile, white flour fermented roti will now be sold for Rs. 30. Officials said the revised rates were introduced to regulate prices and ensure uniformity at tandoors operating in the region.
The prices of other popular bread items have also been increased. Sesame naan has now been priced at Rs. 35. Similarly, roghani naan and paratha will each be available for Rs. 60. The rate of potato paratha has also been updated, with authorities fixing its official price at Rs. 80.
Tea prices have also seen a revision under the new notification. A full cup of tea will now cost Rs. 100, while a half cup has been priced at Rs. 70. Food vendors and tea stalls across the twin cities have already started displaying the updated price lists for customers.
The revised rates come at a time when citizens are already facing rising food and utility costs. Many residents have expressed concern over the increasing prices of everyday food items, especially products consumed on a daily basis. However, officials maintain that the new rates are necessary due to increasing flour, cooking oil, milk, and fuel costs affecting businesses.
Authorities have also warned tandoor owners and food outlets against overcharging customers beyond the officially approved rates. Monitoring teams are expected to conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the new pricing structure across Rawalpindi Division.
