More than 164,000 Pakistanis have been deported from Gulf countries over the last five years, according to official figures presented in the National Assembly. The data was shared by the Ministry of Interior during a recent parliamentary session.
The report highlighted rising deportation cases from several Gulf countries. It showed that Saudi Arabia recorded the highest number of deportations. A total of 108,029 Pakistanis were sent back during the five-year period.
The United Arab Emirates also reported a large number of deportations. Around 40,497 Pakistani nationals were returned from the UAE. Oman followed with 9,814 deportation cases.
Qatar and Bahrain also shared their figures related to Pakistani deportations. Qatar deported 2,971 individuals, while Bahrain sent back 2,779 Pakistanis during the same period.

The issue of deportations from Gulf countries remains an important concern for policymakers. Many Pakistanis travel to Gulf countries for employment opportunities. These countries remain key destinations for overseas workers.
The National Assembly was informed that most deportations were carried out due to violation of residency rules. Some cases were also linked to documentation issues and local law enforcement actions in Gulf states.
During the same session, lawmakers discussed broader governance issues. The sitting was marked by protests and disruptions from opposition members. However, the deportation data from Gulf countries remained a key point of discussion.
Officials also briefed the House on related matters, including overseas employment trends. They said that better monitoring systems are being developed to address such issues in the future.
The government continues to focus on improving coordination with Gulf countries. Authorities aim to reduce illegal migration and ensure safer employment channels for Pakistani workers.
The report also noted that Gulf labour markets remain vital for Pakistan’s economy. Millions of remittances are sent home each year by workers in these regions.
