Weather Alert Rain and windstorms expected in various regions of Pakistan

PMD Predicts Rain, Thunderstorms, and Snowfall in Upper Regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in the upper parts of the country on Thursday (today), with snowfall expected over high-altitude areas.

According to the PMD’s daily weather update, rain, wind, and thunderstorms—accompanied by snowfall on high mountains—are likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and upper Punjab.

The Met Office further stated that a shallow westerly wave is currently affecting northern parts of Pakistan. While dry and partly cloudy weather is expected in most areas, rain is anticipated in several cities over the next two days.

Rain Forecast for March 14-15

Rain is expected in various parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Harnai, Zhob, and Sherani.

In Punjab, showers are forecast in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Khanewal.

Meanwhile, parts of Sindh, including Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Larkana, may also experience rainfall.

Weather Conditions in the Past 24 Hours

On Tuesday, most parts of the country witnessed partly cloudy weather, with scattered rain, wind, and thunderstorms in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region.

Significant rainfall was recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Cherat receiving 14mm and Upper Dir 12mm. In Kashmir, Muzaffarabad recorded 7mm, while Murree in Punjab received 4mm and Islamabad 3mm. Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 5mm, whereas Nokkundi in Balochistan received 1mm.

The coldest temperatures were observed in Leh at -3°C, while Gupis and Parachinar recorded -1°C.
