RWMC Launches Major Eid-ul-Azha Cleanliness Operation

The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company has finalized a large-scale cleanliness plan for Eid-ul-Azha by deploying 6,340 workers and 1,066 vehicles across the city. The operation will continue for three days from May 27 to May 29 and aims to ensure proper waste collection and sanitation throughout Rawalpindi during the religious festival.

Speaking at a press conference, RWMC Managing Director Rana Sajid said the cleanliness operation will run continuously for 24 hours in all 164 union councils of the city. He added that the entire process will be monitored through CCTV cameras to improve efficiency and ensure timely disposal of animal waste during Eid days.

According to RWMC officials, the company expects to collect more than 11,000 tons of waste and nearly 145,000 kilograms of animal remains during the operation. Authorities have also distributed 376,700 waste bags among citizens to encourage proper disposal practices and maintain cleanliness in residential areas during the holiday period.

To support the operation, the company has established 38 collective slaughter sites where 167 workers and 54 vehicles will remain active. RWMC also announced that two tons of phenyl and 981 liters of rose water will be used to maintain hygiene and reduce unpleasant odors in different areas of the city throughout Eid-ul-Azha.

A special 1139 helpline has been activated for citizens to register complaints regarding waste collection and cleanliness. RWMC officials stated that complaints will be resolved within 30 minutes to two hours. In addition, a central control room staffed by 20 officials will remain operational around the clock to supervise the ongoing operation.

The managing director further said that special cleaning campaigns will also cover 1,556 mosques, 98 Eidgahs, and 560 graveyards across Rawalpindi. He acknowledged that many existing vehicles have completed their seven-year operational life, while requests for new machinery remain pending with the Punjab government. However, RWMC has acquired 40 Shahzore mini-trucks to ensure uninterrupted services during Eid.
