Maryam Nawaz has ordered strict action across Punjab to ensure proper cleanliness, security, and public facilitation during Eid ul Azha, with a special focus on controlling the dumping of animal waste in public areas.
During a video-link meeting regarding Eid arrangements, the Punjab chief minister directed authorities to impose a Rs50,000 fine on anyone found throwing animal waste, offal, or remains of sacrificial animals on streets, roads, drains, and canals during Eid days. She emphasized that maintaining cleanliness across the province would remain a top priority during the holidays.
Maryam Nawaz instructed deputy commissioners and district police officers to stay present in the field throughout Eid and warned that negligence or failure to implement government orders would not be tolerated.
The chief minister also ordered strict monitoring of cattle markets and directed authorities to prevent the sale of sacrificial animals at unauthorized locations. Officials were told to ensure that livestock trading only takes place at officially approved cattle markets.
Authorities informed the meeting that digital surveillance and monitoring systems would be active at cattle markets to improve management and security. Additional police deployment has also been planned to prevent incidents of cattle theft and robbery during Eid ul Azha.
The Punjab government further directed officials to enforce restrictions on hide collection by banned organizations and stop the misuse of loudspeakers at hide collection camps.
Special security arrangements and search operations will also be conducted in sensitive areas across the province. Authorities have been instructed to strictly enforce bans on aerial firing and public display of weapons during the Eid holidays.
Maryam Nawaz additionally directed departments to ensure uninterrupted water supply, maintain cleanliness around mosques and Eidgahs, and cover waste dumping sites near airports.
The meeting also approved a ban on temporary swings across Punjab during Eid. Safety inspections of amusement rides in parks and cyber patrolling against hate content on social media were also ordered to ensure peaceful celebrations across the province.
