Pakistan and Iran Discuss Peace Efforts in Tehran

Field Marshal Asim Munir met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran, where both sides discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts focused on reducing tensions in the Middle East. The talks centered on regional peace, stability, and security in West Asia, at a time when the region continues to face multiple geopolitical challenges.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of diplomacy and dialogue as key tools for preventing further escalation. They also reviewed possible measures to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in support of broader regional stability efforts and conflict resolution initiatives.

Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on an official visit and was received in a formal ceremony by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present at the reception, reflecting the diplomatic significance of the visit.

Pakistan has reiterated its support for peaceful solutions following limited progress by global institutions, including the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council, in resolving ongoing regional conflicts. Officials in Islamabad believe stronger diplomatic engagement is needed to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Reports also suggest that Saudi Arabia has expressed support for Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role, viewing it as a positive effort toward regional stability. Meanwhile, discussions related to potential US-Iran diplomatic engagement are reportedly taking place through multiple regional channels involving key stakeholders.

The Foreign Office stated that Iran-US discussions may also be part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China. Officials, however, clarified that reports regarding any additional visit by the Field Marshal to Iran remain unconfirmed while diplomatic coordination continues.
