TikTok Takes Down 11.7 Million Pakistani Videos Over Guidelines Violations

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]During the first quarter of 2023, TikTok, the popular short video-sharing app, actively enforced its community guidelines, resulting in the removal of a staggering 91 million videos worldwide. This accounts for approximately 0.6% of all videos posted on the platform. More than half of these removals (53 million) were automatically detected and taken down by the system, while around 6 million videos were reinstated following manual review, showcasing TikTok’s commitment to fostering a safe and positive community.

In Pakistan, TikTok’s efforts to enforce guidelines led to the removal of over 11.7 million videos for violations during this quarter, showing a slight decrease compared to the previous three months of 2022, when over 12.6 million videos were removed for similar reasons.

Apart from addressing breaches in community rules, TikTok also took action against spam accounts and content to maintain a high-quality user experience. Notably, in Pakistan, TikTok efficiently removed 83% of violative videos before they garnered any views, and about 92.2% of such content was eliminated within 24 hours, achieving an impressive overall removal rate of 98.8% during the first quarter of 2023.

In line with its focus on user safety, TikTok also concentrated on protecting young users, removing nearly 17 million accounts suspected to belong to children under the age of 13, and eliminating over 51 million fake accounts globally during the same period.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
