Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced a significant fare reduction for passengers traveling between Faisalabad and Karachi, offering discounts of up to 40 percent for a limited time. The move is expected to make domestic air travel more affordable and encourage more people to choose flights over other transportation options.
The promotional offer is aimed at travelers commuting between two of Pakistan’s major cities. Business professionals, students, families, and frequent flyers are likely to benefit from the lower fares during the campaign period.
Under the revised pricing, a one-way ticket on the Faisalabad-Karachi route now costs Rs16,781, compared to the previous fare of nearly Rs20,000. The round-trip ticket has also become more affordable, with passengers now paying Rs33,742 instead of around Rs38,000, allowing travelers to save on travel expenses.
According to PIA, the discounted fares will remain available until July 30. However, the offer applies only to return bookings on flights operating every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Passengers planning to travel on these days can take advantage of the reduced ticket prices before the promotion ends.
The airline hopes the fare reduction will increase passenger traffic on the route and strengthen customer confidence by making air travel a more attractive and economical option.
The announcement comes shortly after the completion of PIA’s privatization process. Earlier this month, the Privatisation Commission officially transferred the airline’s management to a consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation after all conditions of the Share Purchase and Subscription Agreement (SPSA) were fulfilled.
As part of the restructuring, Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Haider, Managing Director of Fauji Foundation, has been appointed chairman of the newly privatized airline. The transition involved meeting numerous regulatory, financial, governance, and commercial requirements, including approvals from local and international authorities.
Industry experts believe the discounted fares are part of PIA’s strategy to attract more passengers and improve its public image under the new management. If the campaign proves successful, similar promotional offers could be introduced on other domestic routes in the future.
