Pakistan’s young squash talent, Muhammad Ashab Irfan, has delivered a strong performance at the PSA World Squash Championships. The rising squash star moved into the next round after a straight-sets victory.
The Pakistani squash star defeated Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller in the opening round. Mueller is ranked world No. 31, while Ashab holds the world No. 48 position.
Ashab won the match 3-0 with scores of 13-11, 11-9, and 11-0. The result showed both control and confidence from the young player.
The first game was closely contested. Both players fought hard for every point. The squash star stayed calm under pressure and secured the game 13-11.
In the second game, the Swiss player tried to push back. However, Ashab maintained steady focus and won the game 11-9. His shot selection remained consistent throughout.
The third game was completely one-sided. The Pakistani squash star dominated the court from start to finish. He did not allow his opponent to score any points, winning 11-0.
This victory helped Ashab qualify for the next round of the championship. It also marked another important step in his growing international career.
Pakistan had more action in the tournament as other players also competed strongly. World No. 28 Noor Zaman showed good form in a tough five-game match.
Noor defeated Egypt’s Adam Hawal with scores of 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 9-11, and 11-8. The match lasted 55 minutes and showed high competition.
However, Pakistan’s Asim Khan faced defeat in the opening round. He lost to Wales’ Joel Makin, who is the fifth seed.
Asim, ranked world No. 69, lost in straight games. The scores were 11-1, 11-3, and 11-2. The match ended in just 23 minutes.
Despite mixed results, Pakistan’s emerging squash star Ashab Irfan continues to gain attention on the international stage. His performance is being seen as a positive sign for Pakistan squash.
