A total of 33 Pakistani universities have secured positions in the US News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–27.
COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) emerged as Pakistan’s highest-ranked institution. It secured the 410th position worldwide with a score of 52.0.
The latest rankings assessed more than 2,250 universities across over 100 countries. Universities were mainly evaluated on academic research and institutional reputation.
Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) secured the second position among Pakistani institutions. It ranked 451st globally with an overall score of 50.7.
The University of Lahore followed QAU at 479th worldwide. It received a score of 50.0 in the latest rankings.
Top Pakistani Universities
The University of Management and Technology (UMT) ranked 573rd globally. It received an overall score of 46.8.
The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) secured 590th place. Its score stood at 46.2.
The University of Agriculture Faisalabad ranked 633rd globally. Islamia University of Bahawalpur followed at 693rd.
Aga Khan University secured the 739th position worldwide. The University of Punjab ranked 762nd.
Bahauddin Zakariya University secured 795th place. Government College University Faisalabad ranked 853rd globally.
Abdul Wali Khan University also secured a place among the ranked institutions. It stood at 897th worldwide.
Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology ranked 920th. International Islamic University Pakistan followed at 959th.
The University of Central Punjab secured 1,061st position. The University of Peshawar ranked 1,081st globally.

Government College University Lahore ranked 1,112th worldwide. Air University Islamabad secured the 1,192nd position.
Hazara University ranked 1,274th globally. Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) followed at 1,298th.
The University of Engineering and Technology Lahore secured 1,348th place. The University of Gujrat ranked 1,410th.
The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences ranked 1,449th. The University of Sargodha secured 1,471st position.
The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Science ranked 1,514th globally. UET Taxila secured 1,599th place.
Bahria University ranked 1,631st. The University of Malakand secured 1,661st position.

Kohat University of Science and Technology secured 2,189th place.

The US News Pakistan listing also includes eight institutions without an overall global rank or score.
These include Agricultural University Peshawar and Capital University of Science and Technology. Mehran University of Engineering and Technology is also included.
NED University of Engineering and Technology and Sukkur IBA University are among the listed institutions.
The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, UET Peshawar, and the University of Sindh also appear in the listing.
Globally, Harvard University secured the top position. MIT ranked second, while Stanford University took third place.
The University of Oxford ranked fourth, followed by the University of Cambridge in fifth.
