One of Pakistan’s field hockey legend Manzoor Hussain Junior passed away on Monday 29th Of August due to a heart attack. Manzoor was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning, according to his son Faisal, and the physicians tried to rescue him by inserting three heart stents, but they were unable to do so. Manzoor was the chairman of the national selection committee at the time.

On Saturday, a number of prominent former Olympians and captains—among them Islahuddin Siddiqui, Samiullah, Asif Bajwa, Rana Mujahid, Rasheed ul Hasan, Manzoor junior, and Hasan Sardar—appealed to the government to grant money to the PHF so it could send a team to Potchefstroom in South Africa.
