PHSL 2022, a new start for Hockey in Pakistan

The MAX, Pakistan’s first-ever franchise-based hockey tournament, is set to give the national sport of Pakistan a facelift. It is also known as the Pakistan Hockey Super League (PHSL 2022). Mr. Khalid Sajjad Khokar, president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, referred to it as a “milestone” for the nation’s hockey regulatory body in a news statement.

Mr. Salman Sarwar Butt, senior advisor to Pakistan’s first-ever hockey competition, recognizes The Max as a significant event for the sport’s expansion and revival in the nation. One of the hockey federation’s grand ambitions is to use this competition to elevate Pakistani hockey to the level it attained in the middle of the 20th century.

The MAX is a $50 million product with enormous potential for a significant jump in the future, according to Mr. Salman, who was also a member of the Pakistan Super League’s management in 2012 when it was first introduced.

In a further statement, he said, “When I give you this number, I’m taking into account all the revenue streams, which include both central and franchise revenue streams.”

He also reminded the media that PSL, which was once projected to be worth $100 million, had grown to be worth $250 million in just 7 years.
