Pakistan International Airlines has announced a new financial and relocation support package for its employees. The decision comes as part of internal restructuring and workforce adjustments within the organization.
According to official instructions, PIA has directed employees from the finance and store departments to report to Islamabad by May 4. This move is part of a planned transfer process within the airline.
Under the new arrangement, PIA employees will follow a rotational duty system. Staff will work two days in Islamabad and four days in Karachi over a six-week period. This schedule is designed to balance operational requirements in both cities.
The airline has also introduced a relocation assistance package for transferred staff. Employees will receive a one-time basic salary as support during the transfer process.
For married employees, PIA will provide three basic salaries as relocation support. Unmarried employees will receive two basic salaries under the same policy.
In addition, a disturbance allowance has been announced. Employees will receive Rs 100,000 in the first year. The amount will decrease to Rs 75,000 in the second year and Rs 50,000 in the third year.
The PIA management has also included education support for employees’ children. A one-time payment of Rs 60,000 per child will be given for school or college admissions.
The airline will cover accommodation, transport, and food expenses for the first six weeks of relocation. This support is aimed at helping employees settle in Islamabad without financial stress.
PIA will also assist staff in finding suitable housing and arranging school admissions for their children. These facilities are part of the relocation support plan.
Employees will be provided air travel tickets for duty-related travel between Karachi and Islamabad. In addition, they will receive Rs 2,500 per day during the transfer period.
Accommodation will be arranged in hotels and guesthouses contracted by PIA. The airline will also provide pick-and-drop services between residences and workplaces.
Officials noted that employees transferred in 2019 did not receive similar financial packages. This updated policy is intended to address those earlier gaps.
