Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has instructed education boards across the province to speed up examination reforms by adopting modern technology and ensuring greater transparency throughout the assessment process. The move is aimed at improving the quality, fairness, and credibility of board examinations for students.
During an introductory meeting with the newly appointed chairpersons of education boards, the minister announced that online screen marking will be launched on a pilot basis in the upcoming supplementary examinations. The initiative is expected to modernize the paper-checking process, reduce errors, and enhance the overall efficiency of marking.
Rana Sikandar Hayat stressed that there is no room for mistakes in any stage of the examination system, including question paper preparation, invigilation, and marking. He said education boards carry the responsibility of protecting the academic future of millions of students and must ensure that examinations are conducted with complete honesty and professionalism.
The minister also directed board officials to keep the examination process free from political influence and the activities of exam mafias. He emphasized that strict monitoring and accountability are essential to maintaining public trust in the education system.
To improve oversight, he instructed board chairpersons to conduct regular visits to marking centers and maintain close supervision of sensitive examination centers. Officials were also directed to take immediate action against examiners who are found evaluating answer sheets carelessly or incorrectly, ensuring that students receive fair and accurate assessment of their performance.
In addition, the minister highlighted the importance of providing a comfortable environment for students during examinations. He ordered authorities to ensure that every examination center is equipped with essential facilities such as uninterrupted electricity, working fans, clean drinking water, and proper lighting. According to the minister, these basic arrangements are necessary to prevent unnecessary hardships for students and to allow them to perform at their best during examinations.
The latest directives reflect the Punjab government’s commitment to introducing modern reforms and strengthening transparency, accountability, and fairness across the province’s board examination system.
