Pakistan Introduces Mobile App for Passport Fee Payments

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) is planning to introduce a digital payment solution for passport and immigration fees in collaboration with a private bank, aiming to make government services more convenient and accessible for citizens.

As part of the initiative, a delegation from the bank recently met DG Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa to discuss the implementation of a modern cashless payment system. The proposed system will allow citizens to pay passport and immigration-related fees directly through a mobile application, eliminating the need for traditional payment methods.

According to officials, the bank has already begun developing the necessary technical infrastructure required to support the digital payment platform. Once launched, the service is expected to simplify the payment process and improve overall customer experience.

During the meeting, DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted the benefits of digital payments, stating that the new system would make public services faster, more transparent, and easier to access. He added that the initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize government services and encourage the use of digital technologies.

Officials from both organizations also finalized key operational arrangements for the rollout of the new system. The project aligns with the government’s vision of promoting a cashless economy and accelerating the digital transformation of public sector services.

Authorities said the upcoming platform will provide citizens with secure, efficient, and user-friendly payment options. Additional measures are also being considered to further improve immigration and passport services across the country.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent activities linked to the Regional Passport Office in G-10, Islamabad. According to officials, an individual allegedly altered the office’s Google Maps listing by adding personal contact details, including a phone number and email address.

The suspect is reportedly demanding payments through JazzCash and various bank accounts while pretending to offer official services. Authorities have advised citizens not to share personal information or send money to any unauthorized individuals.

Officials emphasized that all passport-related information, guidance, and assistance should only be obtained through official government channels to avoid fraud and financial losses
