Pakistan has reaffirmed its unconditional support for Saudi Arabia following Houthi attacks on the kingdom, with the Foreign Office stressing Islamabad’s solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan made the remarks during his weekly briefing, where he outlined Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements with Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan and other regional and international partners.
The spokesperson said Pakistan remained active on the diplomatic front amid heightened regional security concerns and continued engaging with partner countries on important bilateral and regional matters.
Pakistan Condemns Houthi Attacks
The Foreign Office strongly condemned the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, according to Sajjad Haider Khan.
He said Pakistan had expressed unconditional support for Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people following the attacks.
The statement reflects the close relationship between Islamabad and Riyadh, particularly on matters involving regional security and stability.
Pakistan has continued to maintain diplomatic engagement with Saudi Arabia as tensions in the region remain elevated.
Ishaq Dar Holds Regional Talks
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held several telephone conversations with foreign counterparts during the past week, according to the Foreign Office.
On September 3, Dar spoke with the newly appointed Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He later held discussions with the foreign ministers of Türkiye and Saudi Arabia on September 6, with the talks including progress related to the Mecca Agreement.
Dar also spoke with the foreign ministers of Kuwait and Egypt and contacted the foreign minister of Norway, the Foreign Office said.
The conversations covered a range of regional and bilateral issues, reflecting Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement with countries involved in regional affairs.
Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan Sign 17 Agreements
The Foreign Office also highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s September 2 visit to Kyrgyzstan, describing the trip as an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.
During the visit, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed 17 agreements and memorandums of understanding covering cooperation in several areas.
The agreements included matters connected to the CASA-1000 project, which is aimed at strengthening regional electricity connectivity.
Islamabad and Bishkek have continued efforts to expand economic and bilateral cooperation, with the latest agreements providing another framework for collaboration between the two countries.
Dar Discusses Regional Security Issues
According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar’s conversations with regional counterparts also covered broader security and political developments.
His discussion with the Turkish foreign minister included regional matters, including the R4 Framework, while other calls focused on bilateral and regional issues.
The diplomatic activity comes as Pakistan continues to engage with regional partners amid heightened tensions and security challenges across the Middle East.
Islamabad has sought to remain diplomatically active while maintaining its longstanding relationships with key regional countries.
Pakistan Condemns Israeli Actions in Palestine
The Foreign Office briefing also addressed the situation in occupied Palestine.
Sajjad Haider Khan said eight Arab and Islamic countries, including Pakistan, had condemned Israeli actions in occupied Palestine.
Pakistan has continued to express its position on developments in Palestine through diplomatic channels while calling attention to the situation in the region.
The issue remains part of Pakistan’s broader engagement with Arab and Islamic countries through bilateral and multilateral forums.
