Mohammad Amir Reverses Retirement Decision Before T20 World Cup 2024

Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has announced his intention to return to international cricket, specifically aiming to represent Pakistan in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. This decision follows constructive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Amir expressed his enduring dream of representing his country, indicating that life sometimes prompts reconsideration of decisions. Following encouraging discussions with the PCB, where they expressed confidence in his abilities and highlighted the team’s need for his presence, Amir consulted with his family and supporters before announcing his availability for the T20 World Cup selection.

Amir’s return to the international scene gained momentum after an impressive performance in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), showcasing his skills as an experienced fast bowler.

Amir has previously represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is, with his last international appearance dating back to 2020. He played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victories in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.

Additionally, Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim also reversed his decision to retire from international cricket, making himself available for T20 format, ahead of the T20I World Cup 2024 scheduled later this year.
