A key road link in northern Pakistan has been closed after floodwaters inundated the Babusar Top Highway, while traffic on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) was disrupted following a truck accident, causing delays for travelers.
According to the National Highway Authority (NHA), the Babusar Road has been completely closed to all traffic at Zero Point near Thak due to high-level flooding. Authorities said the closure will remain in place until conditions improve and the route is declared safe for travel.
The NHA has advised passengers and tourists planning to travel to northern areas to use the Karakoram Highway as an alternative route until the Babusar Road is reopened.
Meanwhile, traffic on the Karakoram Highway was temporarily suspended near Shing Nala after a goods truck overturned on the road. The incident resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway, affecting the movement of commuters and transport vehicles.
Officials said heavy machinery has been dispatched to remove the damaged truck and restore traffic flow at the earliest. To prevent further congestion, the NHA has also stopped additional vehicles from entering the affected area at the Gonar Farm check post.
District administration officials, rescue teams, and highway maintenance crews have been deployed to the affected locations to assist stranded travelers and accelerate road clearance operations.
The NHA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel to the affected areas until road connectivity is fully restored. Travelers have also been advised to stay updated through official traffic advisories before beginning their journey to northern Pakistan.
