Federal Minister for Power Division, Awais Leghari, clarified that the government has no plans to tax solar net metering presently. He affirmed that current regulations for net metering will persist for already installed solar systems. However, he hinted at potential taxation on net metering in the future due to fiscal losses and mounting circular debt concerns.

Net metering enables consumers to supply surplus energy from solar panels to the local grid, earning credits on their monthly electricity bills. Leghari addressed the challenge of capacity payments and outlined transmission system improvements over the next four years. He urged people to embrace solar power to alleviate pressure on the power generation system.
Additionally, the minister emphasized government initiatives to enhance customer service at distribution companies, combat power theft, and ensure stringent action against pilferage. He also proposed the prospect of privatizing certain departments, with plans for long-term agreements to enhance operational management before privatization.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
