Lahore Traffic Police have announced a special traffic management plan to keep roads moving smoothly during school, college and university opening and closing hours across the city.
Under the plan, additional traffic personnel will be deployed outside more than 200 schools located along busy and important roads. The move aims to reduce congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow as educational institutions resume regular activities.
The department has also deployed 100 additional traffic response units and patrolling officers on major roads to manage traffic and respond quickly to congestion and other issues.
Extra Traffic Staff Deployed on Major Roads
Additional personnel will remain stationed on several major roads, including Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Iqbal Road, Wahdat Road, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road and Canal Road.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has directed circle officers to personally remain in the field during school opening and closing times.
Traffic officials have also been instructed to coordinate with school and college administrations to address traffic-related issues and improve arrangements around educational institutions.
Strict Action Against Double Parking
According to the traffic plan, only single-line parking will be permitted outside schools during dismissal times.
Traffic Police will take action against vehicles parked in double rows, which often cause significant congestion on busy roads.
Authorities will also take action against carts and stalls operating outside schools and colleges where they obstruct traffic or create additional congestion.
The measures are aimed at keeping roads clear and ensuring that students, parents, teachers and other commuters can travel more efficiently during peak hours.
Traffic Scouts Program to Resume
Lahore Traffic Police have also decided to revive the Traffic Scouts program.
The in-charge of the education unit has been directed to restart the initiative, which focuses on educating students about traffic rules and road safety.
Meanwhile, the driving schools in-charge has been instructed to prepare a scooter training program as part of the department’s efforts to promote safer driving practices among young people.
Road Safety Awareness for Students
A schedule will also be prepared for road safety awareness lectures at schools, colleges and universities.
Through these sessions, students will be educated about traffic regulations, responsible road use and safe driving practices.
The new arrangements are part of Lahore Traffic Police’s broader efforts to manage congestion around educational institutions while improving road safety and traffic discipline across the city.
