A tragic double murder was reported in Islamabad’s G-6/1-4 area on Thursday after a man allegedly shot dead his ex-wife and mother-in-law before fleeing the scene. Police have launched a search operation to arrest the suspect, who remains at large. The incident has raised concerns about domestic violence and the safety of women following family disputes.
According to police sources, the suspect, identified as Bilal and a resident of Rawalpindi, had divorced his wife just four days before the shooting. Investigators said the accused allegedly traveled from Rawalpindi to Islamabad while carrying a firearm. Upon reaching the residence of his former wife, he reportedly opened fire, killing both women on the spot.
Police officials said the suspect escaped immediately after the attack and took the weapon with him. Law enforcement personnel reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident and began collecting evidence. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the killings and are conducting raids to locate and arrest the accused.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted for legal formalities and post-mortem procedures. Investigators are also interviewing relatives and witnesses to establish a clearer timeline of events. Police have assured that all available resources are being utilized to apprehend the suspect and bring him before the law.
The incident comes just weeks after another shocking family tragedy in Quetta, where a man allegedly shot and killed his wife and four children before turning the weapon on himself. According to police, the incident occurred inside a house in Wahdat Colony, leaving five family members dead. The suspect survived with injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities say investigations into both incidents are ongoing. Police officials have emphasized that all aspects of the cases are being examined, including possible motives and family circumstances. Further details are expected to emerge as investigators continue their inquiries and gather additional evidence.
