The Islamabad district administration has launched a fresh operation against professional begging in the federal capital. During late-night enforcement activities, officials detained 25 individuals suspected of being involved in organized begging.
According to the district administration, Assistant Commissioners from the City and Shalimar areas led the operation. The action was part of ongoing efforts to address professional begging and maintain public order in different sectors of Islamabad.
Officials said the operation targeted individuals believed to be part of organized networks. Authorities have expressed concern that such activities often exploit public sympathy and can affect people who genuinely need assistance.
The district administration stated that action against professional Beggars will continue in different parts of the city. Officials believe that discouraging organized begging can help ensure support reaches deserving individuals rather than groups operating for profit.
Authorities have urged citizens not to encourage professional Beggars by providing money at traffic signals, markets, and other public places. Instead, residents have been advised to support verified charitable organizations and welfare institutions.
According to officials, professional begging has become a challenge in many urban areas. Organized groups often move between cities and operate at busy commercial locations where they can collect large amounts of money from the public.
The administration said its recent operation is part of a broader campaign aimed at reducing this practice. Similar actions may be carried out in other sectors of Islamabad in the coming weeks.
Residents have also been requested to cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious activities linked to organized begging. The district administration believes public support is important for the success of these efforts.
Officials emphasized that the goal of the campaign is not to target people facing genuine hardship. Instead, the focus is on networks that allegedly use vulnerable individuals for financial gain.
The district administration has encouraged citizens to remain vigilant and help authorities identify professional Beggars operating in the city. Residents can report such cases to the District Administration Control Room at 051-9108084 for prompt action.
