Cambridge Assessment International Education has confirmed that a computer science examination paper was leaked in Pakistan during the ongoing May-June examination session, increasing concerns among students and parents across the country. The issue comes after two mathematics papers were also cancelled or postponed earlier due to paper leaks.
In an official statement, Cambridge said that AS Level Computer Science Paper 12 (9618/12), held on May 12, was shared before the exam in violation of examination rules. The board also confirmed that A Level Mathematics Paper 52 (9709/52) had also been leaked online.
However, Cambridge announced that students would not be asked to retake the leaked papers. Instead, affected candidates will receive “assessed marks” based on their performance in other completed exam components of the same subject.
According to Cambridge, this method is commonly used by UK examination boards to ensure fairness for students. The board explained that marks from the leaked papers would be ignored, while final grades would be calculated using students’ performance in other parts of the syllabus.
Cambridge said its main priority is to protect honest students and ensure that no candidate gains an unfair advantage through leaked exam material. The board added that this process would help maintain equal competition among students applying to universities.
The examination authority clarified that although the leaked papers circulated in Pakistan, investigations are still ongoing to determine the original source of the breach. Cambridge stated that legal action is being pursued against those involved, in coordination with law enforcement agencies and social media platforms.
The board also warned students that anyone found sharing or misusing confidential examination papers could face permanent disqualification from Cambridge qualifications.
Cambridge further revealed that it had faced repeated attempts to steal examination papers during the June 2026 exam series and said security measures are continuously being improved.
Meanwhile, the replacement exam for postponed A Level Mathematics Paper 32 will now be conducted on June 8, while AS and A Level results will still be announced on August 11 as scheduled.
