Gold and silver prices witnessed a significant decline in Pakistan on Tuesday, reflecting a sharp downturn in international bullion markets. According to the latest figures released by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the prices of both precious metals dropped across all major categories as global bullion prices came under pressure.
The price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs. 4,300 per tola, bringing the new rate down to Rs. 427,436. The decline follows weakness in international gold markets, where investors reacted to changing global economic conditions and movements in precious metals trading.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs. 3,687, settling at Rs. 366,457. Meanwhile, 22-karat gold also recorded a notable decline, with the price of 10 grams falling by Rs. 3,380 to Rs. 335,931.
The drop marks one of the more significant single-day corrections in Pakistan’s bullion market in recent weeks. Gold prices have remained highly volatile throughout the year, with domestic rates closely tracking fluctuations in international markets and movements in the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.
Silver prices also moved lower alongside gold, registering substantial losses in the local market. The price of 24-karat silver dropped by Rs. 174 per tola, bringing it down to Rs. 6,223.
Likewise, the price of 10 grams of silver declined by Rs. 149, settling at Rs. 5,335. The simultaneous decline in both gold and silver reflects the broader weakness seen in global precious metals trading.
In international markets, gold prices fell by $43 per ounce, taking the global rate to $4,050 per ounce. Silver also recorded a sharp decline, losing $1.74 per ounce to settle at $57.44 per ounce.
Analysts note that domestic bullion prices are directly influenced by trends in international markets as well as fluctuations in Pakistan’s interbank exchange rate. Any major movement in global gold prices or the value of the Pakistani rupee typically has an immediate impact on local bullion rates.
The latest decline may offer temporary relief to buyers planning to purchase gold jewelry or make investment purchases after prices remained elevated in recent months. However, market experts caution that bullion prices are likely to remain volatile due to ongoing uncertainty in global financial markets, inflation expectations, central bank policies, and geopolitical developments.
Jewellers and bullion traders are continuing to monitor international market movements closely, as further changes in global prices could quickly influence domestic rates over the coming days.
