Media reports had earlier alleged that Khan replaced Barrister Gohar Ali Khan with Qaiser as PTI chairman. These claims coincided with criticism following PTI’s protest against alleged election rigging, marked by clashes and a heavy police crackdown at D-Chowk.
The operation led to the arrests of hundreds of supporters and disrupted the demonstration, causing frustration among workers over the absence of key party leaders during the protest. This criticism extended to party figures like Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi, who had led the demonstration.
